The natural hydrologic system of Palo Verde create the right conditions to produce in this zone the most important concentrations of waterfowl and wadding birds in all of Central America, making it a bird watcher’s heaven.
This vast park protects the lower Tempisque River Basin, where a series of seasonal marshes provide ideal conditions for an array of waterfowl. A 2-hour boat ride on the Tempisque, Costa Rica’s largest river, is a most rewarding experience for anyone interested in nature.
The surrounding tropical dry forest is home to everything from monkeys to scarlet macaws. This is a birdwatchers paradise as well as a perfect spot to see lots of crocodiles, monkeys and reptiles.
After lunch you will pass by the famous artisan village of Guaitil and learn about the Chorotega Indians and can watch the artists as they make the pottery with skills passed down from their Pre Columbian ancestors.
